The RFID Security Alliance (RFIDSA), a new organization announced Tuesday, has been created to promote education on security and privacy issues around radio frequency identification technology. The group was co-founded by several industry-focused companies in hopes of becoming the go-to resource.
RFIDSA offers education and resources to those in and outside the RFID industry with an interest in the technology, including educators and media. The group also plans to develop metrics used to establish common terminology around security, provide legislative and public relations support, and foster two-way dialog within the RFID community to speed the adoption of secure RFID technologies and solutions.
Founding members of the RFIDSA include AWID,GraniteKey, MIKOH, NeoCatena Networks, QLM Consulting, SecureRF, Sensitel, Sybase, and Verayo, which has introduced what it calls an "PUF-based unclonable RFID tag." The group also aims to recruit accounting, consulting and law firms; educational institutions as well as others interested in the development of RFID technology and associated issues
