In an extremely competitive environment, Yodobashi Camera sought a system that could respond to customer demands promptly and efficiently. The company carries a diverse range of products and a huge inventory that needs regular tracking, and therefore required a solution that would make its warehouse management process seamless and efficient.

After assessing Yodobashi's warehouse management needs, Motorola and its Japanese authorized reseller, Mighty Card, deployed an RFID-based warehouse management solution that uses Motorola XR480 fixed RFID readers, implemented with the expertise of Mighty Card's professional services team. This paper describes the success and specific benefits of that solution, which was targeted to improve automation and autonomy of business processes, reduce manpower requirements, improve accuracy of shipment information and inspection, and establish new shipment processes with suppliers.
